Rating: 4 [ No bells and whistles, but pretty good nonetheless. ]Ok, this toy does not light up. It does not make cool sounds. It's a base-model light saber, pure and simple. In this case, that's still pretty special. I wasn't too worried about it breaking because, at this price, it's replaceable with little stress. It's good for outside play, but I wouldn't recommend it indoors -- things can get broken. Still, for the money, it's a simple, fun toy.

Unlike the other more expensive lightsabers, this one has a fully retractable blade. This means you can walk around, hood up, Jedi robes flowing, and at the moment of atttack, whip it out and surprise your enemy! A handy belt clip makes hanging it from a belt easy to do. Another good point about these is that are very cheap, and durable. At this price and quality, you can buy several for your Jedi council. At $8.99, you can buy three and still recreate the famous hanger duel scene with ease and and still be under the budget, wheras with the electronic ones you would be spending alot more.A major downpoint is that THERE ARE NO LIGHTS OR SOUNDS, meaning you can't fight in a pitch black room and recreate the final duel between Darth Vader an Luke, or any other cool thing like that. It doesn't seem like fitting one of these sabers with electronic features would be hard, but Hasbro must have its reasons.
All in all, this toy is fun, it takes a beating and hangs from your belt. Now all you need is the Jedi Costume and your good to go.

Hasbro has done it again. These sabers are the best out there people, they are the most fun and durable of all the lightsabers I know of, you can wack away all day with these high durabilety lightsabers. Even though they don't have light and sounds, it still has this really cool action that when you push down the blade and you pull down the button the blade gets locked in , So if there's a tradeoff of having light and sounds, or being able to have the blade go in all the way, I would go with the blade anyday, its so much more fun when you can hang it on your belt and the blade doesn't fall out and when a foe appears you can just grab your lightsaber and pull down the button and with a flick of your wrist your very own lightsaber is ready for battle . I would recommend this to any Star wars fans(or jedi knights)in need of a lightsaber. "You will be, you will be" Yoda, the Empire Strikes Back
